Southern Professional Gear (soprogear.com) is the e-retail site extension of the popular sports gear and hunting outfitter Sports Center, founded in 1949 in Natchez, Mississippi.
The owners decided it was time to expand their presence to the world wide web, creating soprogear.com. In their first twelve months, they expanded their breadth and depth of products from the top-name manufacturers around the world and created an amazing online presence quickly and effectively.

SoPro Gear Partners with Ability for Proven Direct Commerce Success
Sports Center came to Ability Commerce in 2017 with the desire to add an ecommerce sales channel to grow their business. Wyatt Craig, Owner of Sports Center, was looking for an ecommerce partner that had the expertise for selling direct, the desire to guide them and be a true partner on this new venture. They knew they didn’t have in-house capability and needed a partner that could help them ramp quickly. Wyatt was well aware of what Ability has done for other multi-channel retailers and that we would be a good fit for his business.
SoPro Gear uses the full complement of direct commerce products and services offered by Ability including the SmartSite Ecommerce Platform, CCS Order Management System, Amazon Product Suite, SmartStaff Digital Marketing Services, and Contact Center Services for Amazon selling customer care.
Sales Exceed Expectations, SoPro Gear Finishes First Year with Plans for Big Growth
SoPro Gear went live with Ability CCS OMS first including Point-of-Sale for their Nachez, MS brick & mortar store. From there, the Ability team agreed it was time to introduce a new brand for Wyatt’s ecommerce business, so Southern Professional Gear (SoPro Gear) was born! We went live with Ability SmartSite Ecommerce Platform, fully integrated with CCS OMS for more effective online selling. Additionally, Ability’s SmartStaff digital marketing services provide web management, email marketing, PPC, and more, so that Wyatt and team can focus on running the growing enterprise.
Ability has helped SoPro Gear’s growth explode with our Amazon Product Suite and Marketplace Services. The Product Suite offers full integration for seamless data flow between Ability systems and Amazon, where Ability SmartStaff provides SoPro Gear a managed service for “hands-free” selling. Ability’s Contact Center Services for email response assist SoPro Gear with Amazon customer care. SoPro Gear then decided to enroll in the Amazon Seller Fulfilled Prime (SFP) program, leveraging Ability’s SFP integration with Ability’s CCS Order Management System.
With that, the orders started flowing in, the virtual cash register jingled and fulfillment is a breeze!
