Company Profile

Casual Male Retail Group, Inc. is the largest specialty retailer of big and tall men's apparel, with over 450 store locations throughout the U.S., Canada and in London, England, along with substantial ecommerce and catalog operations. Products include: Men's Clothing, Men's Swimwear, Men's Footwear, Accessories, Home and Living

Business Challenge

The growing shift to online sales in the retail industry was forcing Casual Male Retail Group to evolve with the changing marketplace. With sales on Amazon.com growing faster than all other ecommerce vehicles combined, the company needed to find a way to take advantage of the Amazon name and substantially increase online sales without placing added burden or responsibility on their staff.

Casual Male lists over 2,000 unique products on Amazon.com, most of which are clothing items with multiple variants in color, size and other inventory variables. These variations multiply the total number of product IDs requiring data management to over 70,000. Lacking the internal resources and workforce needed to manage such a large quantity of products on Amazon.com, Casual Male Retail Group needed an innovative solution to their ecommerce challenges.

Solution

Determined to remain a key player in the evolving retail industry, the company turned to the software solutions of Ability Commerce. Ability Commerce is an ecommerce website development firm that provides ecommerce solutions, Microsoft Dynamics GP™ accounting software and support, and accounting integration software to meet the specific needs of catalogers and direct marketers.

Ability Commerce developed Ability Channel Feed software to simplify the marketing, buying and fulfillment process of selling on Amazon.com. The software integrates a company's order management system with Amazon.com systems allowing them to offer a wider variety of products without the increased costs of manual entry.

Since integration of Ability Channel Feed software in November of 2009 Causal Male Retail Group has increased their Amazon.com sales by an astonishing 58 percent.

The company credits Ability Commerce's sophisticated software solutions for the drastic increase. "We do not have the internal resources to manage our numerous products on Amazon.com. Ability Commerce has helped us to increase our item count and improve our feature callouts and descriptions, both directly leading to the increased revenue," says Ric Della Bernarda, CMO of Casual Male Retail Group. "Ability Commerce is an expert in managing content and ensures our products are presented in the best possible way."
